Academy of the Holy Names in Tampa, Florida is an independent, Catholic, co-educational elementary school and a college preparatory high school for young women. Students use iPad and MacBook devices to create 3D images of monuments in Washington, D.C., in preparation for an experiential learning trip, they read and share Multi-Touch books about the 1920s they create with iBooks Author, they program a robot by applying the angle of rotations math skill, and are actively involved in many other technology rich learning experiences.
Data collection has shown integration of technology into the classroom, along with other best practices, has a positive impact on student attitudes towards learning, self-confidence, and self-esteem, resulting in a deeper engagement with the course material and development of 21st century skills.
